Biology, morphology, taxonomy, ecology, phylogeny and evolution of chalcid wasps (Chalcidoidea: Hymenoptera) with focus on Torymidae and Megastigmidae and the role of hymenopteran parasitoids (mostly Chalcidoidea) in ecosystems.

Ovipositor evolution plays a key role in parasitoid wasp evolution and diversification. Using several monophyletic and biologically diverse subgroups of Chalcidoidea, we will test several hypotheses to clarify mechanisms underlying the evolution of insect parasitoids and to reveal general patterns that shaped the global diversity of this group of insects.
The project is focused on evolution of family Torymidae, morphological adaptations related to the host use, and coevolution between parasitoids and their hosts.
