  • Studied biological sciences at the University of Stuttgart-Hohenheim (MSc in 1993).
  • 1990 - 1994: Volunteer work in the recources management divisions of Chiricahua NM (Student Conservation Association) and Hawaii Volcanoes NP, National Park Service, USA

1994 - 1999

  • PhD at the University of Hannover, the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust in Slimbridge (England) and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (USA) on "Behavioural ecology of Hawaiian Geese".

Since 2000

  • Curator of the bird collection
  • Member of the working groups 'Bird collections' and 'Neozoa' of the German Ornithological Society (DO-G).
  • Conservation consultant in terms of the german conservation law (Bundesnaturschutzgesetz).
