The Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History

The Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History follows in the tradition of the Natural History Collection founded in 1791, which was based on the Ducal Cabinet of Curiosities of 1600. Due to the early foundation and forward-looking organisation, the museum is now provided with one of Europe’s most significant collections. This invaluable archive of life and its diversity constitutes the foundation for our biosystematic research. It is also a prerequisite for the manifold exhibitions in our museum. To contribute to these objectives, research and exhibition, new specimens are continuously being added to the collection. The combination of biological research and a broad range of knowledge transfer through multifaceted educational and public relations activities is the hallmark of the Stuttgart State Museum of Natural History.
