Research interests
The focus of my research is the Jurassic and the sea life of that time. An important source of information is the fossil content of the two Jurassic fossil Lagerstätten Posidonia Shale and Nusplingen Plattenkalk in southwestern Germany (QT 4). My special interest is devoted to ammonites and crustaceans. Marine Jurassic strata can be precisely dated and correlated by their ammonite faunas; additionally currents and water temperatures influenced their spatial and temporal distribution. I would like to understand how and under which environmental conditions these animals had lived and succeeded, of which we usually know only their empty shells.
