Presentation of our first Science Hub "Buntsandstein" at Museum am Löwentor
We are delighted to present the first of a total of nine interactive stations called "Science Hub" at the Museum am Löwentor. This new station is dedicated to the Buntsandstein, a time in the Triassic period, and marks the start of a comprehensive exhibition project that will be expanded to include eight additional Science Hubs from mid-2026.
The Science Hubs are interactive, accessible and multisensory stations that give visitors an in-depth and vivid insight into the geological eras on display in the museum. The name Science Hub reflects the focus of the stations: science at the Natural History Museum in Stuttgart!
Current research and the extensive research work carried out at the museum is brought to life through exciting interviews with scientists from the Natural History Museum Stuttgart, which are incorporated as interactive films. In addition, relevant fossil research objects are exhibited and information about the era is conveyed in a variety of ways through tactile, auditory and other multisensory elements.
All information is also available in German Sign Language (DGS), easy-to-read language and audio description. This is because one of the Science Hubs' key objectives is comprehensive inclusion. The stations were therefore developed in direct collaboration with focus groups from the areas of vision, movement, comprehension and hearing. Multi-stage testing and optimisation phases ensured that the implementation was as barrier-free and accessible as possible. True to the motto: "On A Mission For Diversity – Museum For All".
The first Science Hub is now open to visitors and can be tried out at the Museum am Löwentor. The other eight stations will follow from mid-2026.
We hope you enjoy exploring!
