No other species shapes Planet Earth like humans. We have transformed every area between the Earth's crust and its atmosphere – and in the process have become a force of nature. Our immense influence on flora and fauna, on earth, water and air, is a familiar part of the daily news coverage and raises questions about the future of mankind.
Against this background, an international commission of scientists has proclaimed the beginning of a new era on Earth, the Anthropocene.
The special exhibition in the Natural History Museum Stuttgart is dedicated to this – in the truest sense of the word – epochal topic. The interactive and true-to-life exhibition deals with the big questions of our time:
How did man turn into this world-shaping being?
How have we changed planet Earth so far?
And what prospects are there for us?
With its diverse research projects, the Stuttgart Museum of Natural History seems predestined to answer these questions from a natural science perspective. The researchers' view of the present is the starting point for a tour through the human era – from the earliest cultural phenomena to the status quo and into the distant future.
A puzzle game suitable for all ages and an interactive climate game invite visitors to playfully explore their own ecological footprint.
Reflection rooms offer repose and the space to consider the central questions of life.
Last but not least, "Visions" highlight innovative trends in research, business and technology and, thus, sustainable prospects for the future.
The exhibition is accompanied by a full complementary program of lectures, guided tours, action days and a symposium.

The Age of Man
The age of man is only a blink of an eye in the history of the Earth and yet no species before has changed the planet as quickly and irrevocably as we have! What have we achieved so far? What are the perspectives? Together we will search for answers – from the beginnings of humankind to the present and beyond.
For groups of 10 people or more, € 80.- during opening hours during the week, € 100.- on weekends, € 120.- outside opening hours. All fees excluding entrance fees.

We humans are clever all-rounders and have made ourselves at home almost everywhere on earth. But we are also changing it more rapidly and radically than any other living creature. What are the consequences of our actions for animals, plants and ourselves?
For all ages, duration 1 h, min. 10 pers., pupils € 4.- plus admission, two accompanying persons free.
