Research Interests
I am fascinated by the narratives of plant ecology and evolution, especially in bryophytes and lichens. My research attempts to address fundamental questions in evolutionary biology, which lie at the intersection of math and biology, by using integrative tools like molecular systematics, bioinformatics, and population genetics.
At the museum, I currently work on the pilot project "How to preserve species from extinction: a the case study of Schistidium spinosum (Red Riding Hood Moss)", an endemic European species. Our project in southern Germany combines basic research and conservation by investigating its rarity, studying population genetics, and developing targeted protection strategies.
